Fire chief lifts County burn ban

Fire Chief Scott Manlow has lifted the total burn ban issued on Friday, March 23. Open air burning is now permitted.

  • A burn permit is required for all open air burning. Burn permits cost $15 and expire at the end of the calendar year (Dec. 31, 2018).
  • Residents can apply for an annual burn permit by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street, or any County Library. A full list of County libraries is published at PECLibrary.org/locations/.
  • The Fire Chief evaluates weather and ground conditions to determine the necessity of a burn ban.
