Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was the guest of Bay of Quinte Federal Conservative candidate Tim Durkin and the Bay of Quinte Conservative Riding Association.
Harper discussed his new book “Right Here Right Now: Politics and Leadership in the Age of Disruption” at the gathering Saturday at Tomasso’s Restaurant in Trenton.
“The book is about populist leadership around the world,” Harper told the group of about 60. “I wrote it to provide those in business and government a way to thrive in an age of unprecedented disruption.”
Harper also threw support behind the Bay of Quinte Candidate stating, “it’s important to get Tim elected to provide the area with a solid Conservative representative.”
He signed copies of his book and posed for photos with guests.
MPP, Trade Minister, and Government House Leader Todd Smith, Ontario Caucus Chair and MPP Daryl Kramp and other dignitaries were also on hand for the two hour event.
“To have a guest as well respected as the Right Honourable Stephen Harper was very humbling,” said Durkin. “He, along with his government got Canada through one of the toughest economic times in this nation’s history. It’s given our team great motivation, with less than one year out from a federal election.”
