Free event with Dr. Niigaan Sinclair on Truth and Reconciliation in Canada

Author, activist and professor Dr. Niigaan Sinclair is coming to Belleville for an exclusive presentation to bring understanding, positivity and reflection to the work around Truth and Reconciliation within Canada.
Hosted by Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, the community event Monday, Feb. 11 is open to everybody at no charge. Registration in advance is requested. Meet from 7-9 p.m. at Loyalist College, Alumni Hall, 376 Wallbridge-Loyalist, Belleville.
Niigaanwewidam (Niigaan) Sinclair is Anishinaabe from Little Peguis, Manitoba and is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba. He is an award-winning writer, editor and activist who was named one of Monocle Magazine’s “Canada’s Top 20 Most Influential People” and one of the CBC Manitoba’s “Top Forty Under Forty.”
He is a regular commentator on Indigenous issues on CBC, CTV, and APTN, and his written work can be found in the pages of newspapers like the Winnipeg Free Press, The Guardian and online with CBC and CBC books: Canada Writes. Niigaan is a highly sought speaker and facilitator across Canada and internationally with diverse audiences.
Many will also be familiar with Niigaan’s father, Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair who was the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
Niigaan will use his wealth of knowledge from both formal and lived experiences to empower and inspire people to look toward the future and ask what they can do today, that will support and continue to build positive relationships in reconciliation.
