Free parking and one curbside garbage bag extended to June 30

The County has extended several temporary measures for parking and garbage until June 30, 2020 in response to COVID-19.

Free parking in Picton will continue through June 30, 2020. A staff report is to come forward at the June 11 Committee of the Whole meeting to inform the approach to parking fees in Picton beyond June 30.

Parking is free along streets in the downtown core and in the Market Lane parking lot. The two-hour maximum for street parking remains in effect. The time limit does not apply to parking spaces in Market Lane.

Parking enforcement during free parking continues for other infractions such as blocking fire routes, parking in an accessible space without a permit, and disobeying no-parking restrictions.

Residents can continue to put out one untagged bag of garbage per household per week until June 30, 2020.

The two-bag limit per week is still in effect. Bag tags can be purchased at Shire Hall, the Picton Fire Hall, or retail outlets.

You can also purchase garbage bag tags by mail. Send your request and a cheque payable to The County of Prince Edward to: Shire Hall, 332 Picton Main Street, Picton ON, KOK 2T0.

In addition to operating on Saturdays, the Picton, Ameliasburgh, and Milford landfill sites will be open on Wednesdays from 8 am until 4 pm until June 30, 2020. The municipality is opening the Ameliasburgh and Milford sites on Wednesdays to help alleviate traffic and wait times.

All of the municipality’s landfill and transfer sites are open on Saturdays.
