UPDATE 12:15 p.m.: Hastings Prince Edward District School board students are being sent home due to the weather. Staff will remain at schools until all students are picked up.
Travel conditions are expected to be poor in the County and across most of southern Ontario Tuesday, as Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning. All school bus routes are cancelled for the day.
Freezing rain is expected to develop Tuesday morning into the afternoon as temperatures are to range from -4 to 0C.
Environment Canada forecasts it will change to rain Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with a high of 2C and a 40 per cent chance of snow.
The otherwise warmer weather conditions leading to potential freeze/thaw damage on roadways, has the County imposing reduced loads for all owners and users of trucks and trailers.
Effective January 16th, reduced loads notices were posted on some municipal roads. The restriction does not apply to those who haul potable water, septage or heating fuel for residential and institutional uses.
