Gale force wind warning in effect Wednesday

Quinte Conservation has issued a water safety statement for Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte due to a gale warning in effect, forecasting strong winds and high waves.

According to the Environment Canada Marine Forecast, gale force winds exceeding 70 km/h are expected throughout the region Wednesday, with high waves building up to four metres by Wednesday evening. Strongest gusts are expected along exposed areas of the Lake Ontario shoreline.

Temperatures are expected to remain mild at 9C with rain beginning in the morning.

Quinte Conservation has issued a Water Safety Statement indicating high flows, unsafe banks, high waves or other factors that could be dangerous. Localized shoreline flooding is also possible.
