Garage fire contained quickly on Cty. Rd. 1

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue crews from Station 2 Bloomfield, with support from Station 1 Picton, responded to a fire on County Road 1 just after 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30.
Deputy Fire Chief Tim Kraemer reported firefighters arrived to a working structure that was contained to a detached single car garage.
“The fire was quickly knocked down by fire crews. Nobody was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is accidental and damage is estimated to be $30,000.”
Kraemer reminds everyone that only working and maintained smoke and carbon monoxide alarms can provide early detection to escape a fire along with a fire escape plan. Check your alarms today.
