Glenora ferry to operate on 30-minute service over long weekend

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is advising the public the Glenora Ferry service will be operating with one-ferry on 30-minute service over the upcoming long weekend.
As per Transport Canada regulations, a new safety system that will help launch rescue boats is being added to the Glenora Ferry. The vessel is unable to sail until the system is installed and approved.
MTO is unable to complete this work prior to the long weekend.
MTO, in a news release, apologizes for inconvenience and encourages travellers to plan ahead.
High water levels and strong winds could also affect ferry service. The MTO continues to monitor both and will provide advisories related to any service disruptions.

Just save the money and cancel it altogether, who needs it.
This is another example of how our government works.We have been operating with one ferry since Thanksgiving so why wasn’t the work done then.Not a week before it goes into sevice
Total B.S. Roads and bridge in terrible shape for how many years now? And now down to one ferry on a long weekend?
This is a very lame excuse , many conversations took place with Glen Higgins Project Manager of the Rehabilitation of the Skyway bridge,Promised that the Glenora Ferry would be a 15 minute service so as not to inconvenience those coming to the County, as we discussed this will have an economic impact to tourism , also remember with the high level of water there was a loaded transport parked in the middle for ballast taking up additional spaces , shame
Good planning MTO…….maybe it’s time for a larger ferry if 30 minute departures are to become the norm……
