The third annual ‘Teeing Up Fore Health Care Golf Classic’ held in June scored a hole-in-one for Prince Edward County’s hospital emergency department by raising $27,500.
Realtors at RE/MAX Quinte Ltd., teed up support to improve the care patients receive at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital by directing the proceeds from the tournament toward the Hospital Foundation’s current Picture of Health Campaign for medical equipment – specifically for an upgrade to the telemetry (heart monitoring) unit used in the emergency department at Picton at a cost of more than $41,000.
This year’s achievement brings the three-year total raised through RE/MAX’s efforts to just over $80,500 – bringing the mercury on the thermometer outside the Lake Street office to $197,500. RE/MAX has committed to raising $250,000 for medical equipment needs at the County hospital.
“The Teeing Up Fore Health Care committee is very grateful for the tremendous support from the community,” said Briar Boyce, communications co-ordinator for the PECMHF. “To achieve a net of $27,500 is truly outstanding. Kudos to all.”
Boyce extended special thanks to Wilkinson and Company Chartered Accountants and Tax Specialists, title sponsor for the tournament for the third year. Also returning to chip in their support as corporate sponsors were CIBC Mobile Mortgage Advisors, Market High Advertising, Parkside Landscaping and Contracting and Wellings of Picton. New corporate sponsors this year included Taskforce Engineering. As well, Jamie Yeo of Sobey’s in Picton sponsored the barbecue lunch while Huff Estates donated the wine for the take away bags. Approximately 40 local businesses came on board as hole sponsors.
