One job will be lost and more than $100,000 will be saved when Picton’s health unit office on King Street moves to more economical space with the Prince Edward Family Health Team on Bridge Street.
The space sharing arrangement is expected to provide more efficient service for clients. The move is to take place in November.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our Picton branch office to co-locate with primary care providers in that community,” said Dr. Richard Schabas, Medical Officer of Health for Hastings Prince Edward. “Working closely with these providers will help to ensure that we offer the most appropriate public health services to meet the needs of Prince Edward County residents in the future.”
All services will continue to be provided at the new location.
“The co-location of Public Health with the Prince Edward Family Health Team represents so much more than simply sharing a space,” said Stephanie MacLaren, Executive Director of the Prince Edward Family Health Team. “It is an opportunity to really explore the potential partnerships and synergies between our two organizations. We are both working toward the same goal – a healthy community – and we really could be working more effectively together to this end. At the end of the day, nothing builds a relationship quicker than being in the same space – it’s all about people, relationships, and familiarity. We are really looking forward to this.”
