More than 800 Prince Edward County Soccer Association players between the ages of four and 19 were on the fields last weekend for the year-end Gary Parks Soccer Tournament.
The second annual PECSA Scott Wentworth Award for excellence in coaching was presented Saturday to Chris Weir, under nine coach.
The award reconizes “commitment to the game and helping to instill a love of soccer to their team and with admiration for a job well done”.
Every year, parents are invited to nominate coaches. Three PECSA executives and Scott Wentworth then observe the coaches in action, and choose a recipient.
“Overall we had another incredible year,” reports Pam McRae,” PECSA president. “With thanks to our sponsors, and the dedication from all of our coaches, and parents – we could not have done it without them.
Our tournament weekend was incredible! Mother Nature kept the sun shining on us both days, with a nice breeze.”

My 4 year old learned so much about being on a team this year, thanks to everyone who organized the season’s soccer. Especially coach Nicole!
Congrats to Chris Weir on winning the Scott Wentworth Award! And thanks to all the coaches who volunteer their time to help our children and (in my case)grandchildren,
learn the game.
I personally can’t begin to thank everyone for an amazing PECSA Season! It takes a community to keep our kids active, and we live in an amazing community!!
