It’s cold now, but coldest air yet to arrive

UPDATE FRIDAY: Flurries beginning this evening. Local amount 2 to 4 cm.

Environment Canada’s extreme cold warning calls for a period of wind chill values of -30 or colder overnight Thursday with a slight reprieve Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Another shot of frigid Arctic air is expected to bring extreme cold once again for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Friday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud – with -15C feeling like -19C (overnight -17).

Saturday is forecast to have light snow – but with warnings for whiteouts – under -13C – feeling like -21 (overnight -23).

Sunday is to be mainly sunny at -19C – feeling like -28 (overnight -24).

New Year’s Day is forecast to be a mix of sun and cloud at -19C – feeling like -27.
