Retired Judge George F.W. Inrig will help shed light on Prince Edward County’s dairy industry for generations to come.
The Picton resident has donated more than 50 items from his personal collection to the Macaulay Heritage Park Museum. Items include containers from Meyer’s Dairy; Miller’s Dairy; Anderson’s Dairy; Herrington’s Dairy; Prince Edward Dairies; Calnan’s Dairy; Latchford’s Dairy and Old Orchard Dairy of Bloomfield.
He also handed over metal measuring pitchers for delivering milk to customers before glass bottles became common; a number of plain glass bottles in gallon, half-gallon, quart, pint, and half-pint bottles; round, square, cream-top and embossed bottles. Mr. Inrig gave away the remainder of his collection – some 250 bottles – to relatives, friends and collectors.
