Kids Helping Kids reached out in song to the County’s less fortunate children Friday night at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute.
More than a dozen young performers sang and performed favourite music during the fifth annual fundraiser for the Children’s Aid Society’s Christmas Angel Campaign. Participants raised $1,026 through ticket sales and a silent auction.
The host and emcees for the evening were Amy Rutherford, Simon Rutherford and Paul Griffin. They thanked the many friends and business sponsors in the community for services and silent auction gifts. All funds raised go to the CAS campaign help children ages 16 and under in Prince Edward County.
The evening opened with Amy Rutherford singing Over the Rainbow, accompanied by Chris McMahon on guitar.
“Newcomers to the show included Ben Vandergaast who blew everyone away with his version of White Christmas and then an original called ‘Fairy Tale Endings’ and Bethany Stevens sang in her first public appearance and it was so beautiful,” said Rutherford. Amy Sedore, founder of the event, also performed.
Rutherford ended the show right after Ben Vandergaast sang White Christmas, with the Michael Buble version of Blue Christmas.

Thank you, what a wonderful and talented group!! Had a great time and really enjoyed all the music!!
I support a Christmas angel every year. Every child needs to have a perfect Christmas and no child should ever go without. Its a time of year where everyone should be looking out after the young and making sure there is a nice Christmas meal on the table. I encourage everyone to go get an angle and make a differnce in some child’s life, its one thing in life you will never REGRET 🙂
