Lantern festival lights the way

County participants in a festival of light honoured the City of Light Saturday night making “wishes for peace” and placing them in a jar marking Friday’s multiple deadly attacks in Paris, France that killed more than 120 people and injured more than 350 others.
A few hundred Firelight Lantern Festival participants paraded from Picton’s Benson Park to the Crystal Palace to the jazz funk beat of the Shuffle Demons.
The band continued to perform at the Crystal Palace. The evening also included a shadow puppetry show, dancing and children’s activities.
Workshops were held prior at the County’s public libraries for individuals and families to create lanterns.
