Local hospitals restricting visitors

With the heightened precautions resulting from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Quinte Health Care is asking for the public’s co-operation to reduce potential risks to patients by restricting the number of visitors to Quinte Health Care’s four hospitals – Belleville General Hospital, North Hastings Hospital, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and Trenton Memorial Hospital.
While additional measures may be necessary in the coming days – effective immediately, Quinte Health Care is asking that visits be limited to one visitor per patient. Allowances will be made based on compassionate grounds, depending on the circumstances.
Visitors who are feeling unwell; have an infection; have symptoms of respiratory illness, symptoms of flu-like illnesses or symptoms of other communicable diseases should not visit.
In certain cases, visitors will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to support a safe environment for patients who may have a contagious condition.
Visitors must perform hand hygiene with soap and water or alcohol based hand rub before and after visiting a patient.
Also, staff may need to ask patients to leave for infection control reasons so we ask that visitors please respect that request during this time.
