JAN 16 – Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is advising of potential low risk exposure to COVID-19 at Tim Hortons in Wellington Saturday. The restaurant has closed temporarily to sanitize.
Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health is advising customers who visited there on Jan. 8, 10, 12 or 13 (including drive through customers) that they may have had a low-risk exposure. HPEPH is contacting all high-risk contacts related to the case. They will be instructed to self-isolate immediately and to get tested.
Anybody who visited the restaurant is asked to monitor for symptoms and seek testing if symptoms develop.
“While the risk to customers is relatively low, promptly identifying cases of COVID-19 is critical to slow the spread in our area,” said Oglaza. “To avoid spreading illness to others, all individuals who visited Tim Hortons on these dates must monitor for symptoms and seek testing if symptoms develop – even if symptoms are very mild.”
The HPEPH dashboard indicates seven new cases Jan. 16 – five in Belleville and two in Quinte West. There are now 27 cases in the region – 19 in Belleville, five in Centre Hastings, three in Quinte West.
