Prince Edward County OPP and representatives from the Ministry of Labour are on the scene of a fatal industrial accident at an agricultural property on County Road 7 in North Marysburgh.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday various County emergency services personnel were dispatched to the scene. The Ornge Ambulance Service was also requested.
Work was being done reclaiming a barn structure at the property. A 27-year-old Napanee area man fell from an elevated position and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officer Connor Durkin notes for compassionate reasons, the deceased man’s name will not be released as next of kin has requested time to make their own arrangements for notifications.
The heavy equipment operator also sustained minor injuries. He did not require medical treatment. The Ministry of Labour continues its work with the coroner and OPP to investigate. A post mortem has been ordered by the coroner to take place Saturday in Ottawa.

A very sad day. I am an X-ray tech and see injured workers all the time. Don’t take short cuts .tie offs help ,and encouraging young workers to be safe as they want to prove themselves on the job .help them to prove that no matter what job , safety first, and going home to your family and loved ones the most important thing in their day . My prayers to his family and friends and co workers , not an easy time for anyone……..
This is tragic and sad, which is why MInistry of Labour has laws in place for working at heights. Tie offs save lives.
Terribly sad happening. Heartbreaking! It makes everything else seem so small to even discuss. God bless him.
