Marvin celebrates 40th with flowers; donation to hospital auxiliary

Pamela Strachan, manger of the PEC Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Second Time Around Shop, draws the winning ticket for 40 roses in a vase.

Celebrating 40 years in business, Marvin Chapman, of Flowers by Marvin raffled 40 yellow roses, raising $387 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Second Time Around Shop.

The shop’s manager, Pamela Strachan, drew Kristina Lickers’ name on the winning ticket, and thanked Chapman for the donation.

Kristina Lickers won the draw, and had also won an earlier trivia draw for a dozen roses.

Lickers also won a dozen roses for correctly answering one of several of Chapman’s social media trivia questions leading up to the 40th anniversary celebration.

Chapman gave away a dozen roses each day to the first person with correct trivia answers.

Some questions included:
How many locations has Flowers by Marvin had in Picton since 1979?
(Six. 307 Main St.- 1979-1982; 297 Main St – 1982-1989; 88 Main St -1989- 2002; 11-97 Main- 2002-2002
12-97 Main- 2002-2013; and 80 Main St- 2013- present) He opened the Belleville store in 1987.

What year was the fire at Flowers by Marvin at 88 Main St? (It was 2002)

Another question was What business do you know Marvin from beside the flower shop? (Answer the Drive-in)

Chapman, staff and customers celebrated the anniversary Saturday with a ribbon cutting by Mayor Steve Ferguson.
