Mary Magdalene church supports library reading program to welcome new ministerial team member

CHEERS! from the Prince Edward County Public Library, to St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Picton for a donation supporting the library’s new 1,000 books before kindergarten program.

The presentation was made to welcome Martha Riddell to the ministerial team. Riddell recently completed her Masters of Divinity degree at Trinity College, University of Toronto and brings experience with Child and Family ministry in Toronto.

In her role over the next two years, she will engage in all aspects of parish ministry with the support of Rector Charles Morris.

One area of focus will be reaching out in the community to connect with families and community partners.

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program goal is to provide a simple, innovative yet fun approach to establishing strong early literacy skills. The library will help young children gain the confidence necessary to become strong readers through an easy, simple-to-follow, proven program.

Visit the branches to get all the details about how your family can read 1,000 books before stepping foot into a school, sign up, and receive a swag bag!

Note note proof of vaccination for patrons 12+ is required.
