Mayor Robert Quaiff pulled to win $1,000 for the Quinte Good Food Box and Good Baby Box programs at this year’s charity tractor pull event at The County Pull.
The County Pull was initiated at Loch Sloy to provide a venue for tractor and truck pulls in the County. As well, the Arm Drop Drag Races partnered with The County Pull so spectators can enjoy two different events at the same venue.
The Picton Kinsmen help with the gates, as well as grilling hamburgers and hotdogs for the public, and the Prince Edward 4H Association brings its milkshake booth to raise money and awareness for 4H.
Charity Pull participants tractor pull for a charity of their choice and the puller who manages to achieve the furthest distance wins $1,000 for their charity. This year, the spectators enjoyed watching the Mayor of The County of Prince Edward, Robert Quaiff, lead the pull in a Massey Ferguson tractor (donated to the event by Hawley’s Garage) against John Thompson (Prince Edward 4-H Association), Jane Thompson (Radio 99.3 County FM), and Greg Gorsline (Hallowell Fire Department). Mayor Quaiff’s $1,000 cheque is going to CDC Quinte.
The Mayor’s efforts to support the Community Development Council of Quinte’s efforts continue this weekend as golfers join the Mayor’s charity tournament Saturday at the Picton club.
