Midget Kings Sweep Stars

The Prestige Midgets outscored Napanee 16-5 in weekend play-down action to sweep their six-point series in three games.  Following up on their 4-1 victory on the road the previous weekend, the Kings hammered the Stars 8-3 in Picton on Saturday night.  The line of Corey Prince (3-3), Nolan VanVlack (1-4) and Brady Greer (2-1) paced the offence, racking up fourteen points on six goals and eight helpers.  Brody Hudgin and Jake Staley rounded out the Kings scoring with singles while assists went to Zac Brant, Tyler Philip, Bryce Vangrootheest, Dallas Hunter and Scott McQuaid.  Mitch Spencer protected the Kings crease for the win.

On Sunday afternoon the Kings were in Napanee with a chance to finish off the Stars.  With Rick Holland doing duty in net, Philip had a hat trick and N. VanVlack scored twice on the way to a convincing 8-2 final and series sweep.  The Kings other goals came from Greer, Taylor Reddick and Seth VanVlack while assists went to Robert Stapley (2), S. VanVlack, Greer, Reddick, Philip and Hudgin.

The Kings now await the winner of the Port Hope – Lindsay series with games to begin in early February.
