Between snow squalls this weekend, winter made room for plenty of fun at Milford’s first Potato Fest.
Janna McCarthy, an organizer with the host South Marysburgh Recreation Board said the fun began Friday night with bingo.
“Just about a full house came out on a snowy night for bingo in the Milford Town Hall. Along with a prize, adult winners were handed a potato and the children received potato chips along with their prize.”
Saturday as the roads were cleared of freshly fallen and blowing snow, the sun shone and people made their way to the town hall for more festivities.
“Younger children enjoyed the crafts – making a potato head, or using potato stamps, stamping on paper and other items,” said McCarthy.
Nearly 50 people attended the lunch which featured potato soup, french fries and a deluxe baked potato bar, which included various toppings, small potato stacks like scalloped potatoes and potato donuts for dessert.
“Many were surprised at just how good the donuts were,” said McCarthy. “The South Marysburgh Recreation Board thanks all those who came out to support this event.”
