A fix to a need for more accessible seating led to seating around the new mini stick rink for children at the Wellington arena.
Available for use by the community at no cost, funding of $15,000 was provided by the Ward family of Quinte’s Isle Campark.
“Not only have they helped to enhance the Wellington and District Community Centre, but they’ve increased activities for youth in the County,” said Lisa Lindsay, Manager of Community Centres and Events Marketing. “The mini stick arena is the latest facility in Prince Edward County designed with youth recreation in mind. Building on the success of the outdoor skate park in Picton, the hope is to continue increasing activities for children and youth throughout the County. The addition of the new mini stick arena adds a new dimension to the Wellington and District Community Centre, and broadens its’ appeal in terms of age-groups.”
Mini stick players looking to take part may borrow mini sticks. The 22-foot x 12-foot arena can accommodate approximately six players at one time.
Marking the grand opening of the Mini Sticks Arena, a new item was added to the canteen menu. For $2.50, you can now get an order of Mini Pucks and Sticks, also known as a slider burger and fries.
