Missing six-year-old at Sandbanks found following impressive community chain of help

A six-year-old last seen in the water was located as people at Sandbanks Provincial Park joined together to form a chain line to methodically search the beach and water.
The child was located more than a kilometre up the beach.
Prince Edward OPP assisted with the search Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023 shortly after 5:30 p.m. having received a call from Provincial Park Wardens. They said the six-year-old child had been missing for approximately 30 minutes and was last seen in the water.
“Emergency services attended and engaged with the tremendous community support,” said Aaron Miller, PEC OPP Community Safety officer. “As highlighted in the photo, individuals formed a line and methodically searched the beach and water. The child was located more than a kilometre up the beach. The OPP thank everyone who offered their assistance.
