More hospital beds available in expectation of busy flu season

Quinte Healthcare has added six temporary beds to the County’s hospital in expectation of a challenging flu season.
The board was told Tuesday that patient volumes at QHC’s four hospitals are already higher than usual for this time of year, leaving little capacity for patients associated with flu season.
Board members were told countries in the southern hemisphere that have already experienced flu season grappled with some of their worst flu seasons on record.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care announced there would be extra funding for temporary beds to put to use from November to March.
Six more beds will be available at Trenton hospital, 15 at Belleville General and two at North Hastings.
