Members of the Marysburgh Mummers gathered at Hospice Prince Edward to present funds raised at September’s production of Grace & Glorie at Mt. Tabor in Milford. Grace & Glorie, a two-act play features Grace, a feisty 90-year-old cancer patient who has checked herself out of the hospital and returned to her beloved homestead cottage in the Blue Mountains to die alone. Her volunteer hospice worker, Glorie, is a Harvard MBA recently moved from New York. Glorie is tense, unhappy and guilt-ridden, her only child having been killed in an auto accident when she was driving. As she attempts to care for and comfort the irritable Grace, the sophisticated Glorie gains new perspectives on values and life’s highs and lows.
The Mummers raised $2,000 during the production’s run and presented $1,000 each to Hospice Prince Edward and the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“With this donation to the foundation, the Mummers will move up a level on our donor recognition wall as their cumulative gifts now total $10,500,” said Hazel Lloyst, interim director of development.
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation will recognize the many individuals, corporations and community organizations that have been supporting ongoing fundraising efforts that fund priority medical equipment purchases at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 4 in the PECMH Boardroom at 4 p.m.
After the unveiling, the public is invited to join in for some festive holiday caroling outside and the annual tree lighting ceremony in front of the building beginning at 5 p.m. Refreshments will follow in the boardroom along with entertainment by the County’s own Frere Brothers. RSVP by Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 to Briar at 613-476-1008 ext. 4425 or by email to bboyce@qhc.on.ca
