The County is offering new services in support of housing needs for tenants.
Funded by the province’s Homelessness Prevention Program through Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services, the municipality’s Housing Help Program aims to assist tenants with finding, and keeping, rental housing units.
A rental housing education series of free workshops is to launch this fall, in-person and online, designed to help both tenants and landlords. The workshops are to feature presentations from local community organizations and include discussions about rights and responsibilities, maintaining positive relationships, and the availability of free resources.
Judith Burfoot, the municipality’s new Housing Help Coordinator, is offering ‘Eviction Prevention and Mediation’ support for both landlords and tenants to help reduce and resolve issues and help residents stay in their homes. There are also free resources and information for landlords to support stable tenancies.
There is now an online registry of residential rental units available for landlords to list units in Prince Edward County. In collaboration with C3 Solutions, the service is to allow landlords listings free of charge; residents to search for housing and the public to access real time and accurate rental housing market data specific to Prince Edward County.
For more information, contact Burfoot at housinghelp@pecounty.on.ca or by phone at 613.476.2148 extension 1069.
