New PEC Summer Pass offers free access to Wellington beach, parking

The municipality is launching a new PEC Summer Pass, offering Prince Edward County residents free admission to Wellington Rotary Beach and access to designated parking spaces at the end of Bakker Road and County Road 20 (Huyck’s Point Road).

The pass is available free of charge to all residents and taxpayers of Prince Edward County. This pass replaces and builds on the success of the Wellington Rotary Beach Day Pass introduced in 2021.

Residents and taxpayers must pre-register to receive the pass and must pick it up in person.

Pre-registration begins May 11 through an online form on The County’s website. Passes will be available for pick up starting on May 17 at The Edward Building customer service desk (280 Picton Main Street, Suite 103) or at any PEC Library Branch.

Registrants will be asked to select their pick-up location at the time of registration, and will be required to show proof of residency when they collect their pass.

Pick up at PEC Library branches is only available through online pre-registration; however, County staff will be present at the Wellington library branch (261 Wellington Main Street) between May 17 and May 31 during regular branch hours to offer same-day in-person registration and pick-up.

Same-day in-person registration and pick-up is also available at the Edward Building customer service desk starting May 17 from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Wellington Rotary Beach
Paid admission at Wellington Rotary Beach will begin on Saturday, May 21. Admission fees of $10 per person are charged on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays in May, June, September and October, and seven days a week in July and August. The PEC Summer Pass gives residents and members of their party free admission to the beach.

Bakker Road and County Road 20 (Huyck’s Point Road)
Parking is restricted on sections of Bakker Road, County Road 20 (Huyck’s Point Road) and in other seasonal no-parking zones from May to October. The maximum fine for parking in a seasonal no parking zone is $400. Residents and taxpayers who display a valid PEC Summer Pass will be exempt from fines when parked in designated spaces on Bakker Road and on County Road 20 (Huyck’s Point Road).
