Officers met with gun fire executing Canada-wide warrant arrest in PEC

UPDATE: The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch under the direction of a major case manager, are now investigating the attempted murder of OPP officers. The focus of the investigation remains on the Massassauga Road residence where police activity will continue in the coming days.

Prince Edward OPP were met with gun fire while executing an arrest of a person on a Canada-wide warrant early Friday morning
Officers received information that an individual wanted wanted by Winnipeg RCMP was at a residence on Massassauga Road in Ameliasburgh. Eric Wildman has been the focus of a search by RCMP in Manitoba. The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine and OPP Crisis Negotiators executed the warrant at the home.
“While officers were attempting to gain entry to the residence they were met with gun fire, fortunately no injuries were sustained,” said Constable Aaron Miller. “With the assistance of the crisis negotiators, two individuals surrendered to police.”
Wildman, 34, was taken into custody. He is currently in the process of being returned to the custody of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Miller states the other individual is currently being questioned and the investigation remains ongoing.
