Officially seven candidates for Sept. 19 Bay of Quinte by-election

There are officially seven candidates seeking votes for the Bay of Quinte by-election this month.

Candidate nominations have officially closed and Elections Ontario has announced the names of seven candidates from six political parties running to replace Todd Smith who resigned last month to work in the private sector.

The candidates are Tyler Allsopp (PC), Lori Borthwick (Green), Sean Kelly (Liberal), Amanda Robertson (NDP), Margaret Schuler (New Blue Party), Mark Snow (Libertarian) and John Turmel (as an Independent).

Voter information cards are on the way to registered electors. While these cards are not required for voting, eligible voters are encouraged to confirm, update, or add their information to the Register at vreg.registertovoteon.ca by Sept. 9 to receive a voter information card with information on when, where, and how to vote.

There is advance voting until Sept. 13. For specific dates, times, and locations, visit voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca. Voters can also cast their ballot in person at their returning office up until 6p.m. on Sept. 18.

More information about the Bay of Quinte by-election, including when and where to vote and examples of accepted ID, is available at elections.on.ca.
