One person has tested positive for COVID-19 at Kente Public School.
Hastings Public Health and the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board notified parents and guardians Sunday, stating public health has worked with the school to identify any individuals who may have been in close contact with the case in the school setting.
The school remains open.
“It is important to note that not all students will be affected by the positive case,” the letter states.
The school has provided public health with contact information for people the person was in contact with while at school. The school was cleaned and disinfected in all areas where the person may have been.
“The name of the individual who tests positive and their contacts will not be disclosed publicly.”
Parents and guardians were told to continue to monitor and screen children daily for symptoms of COVID-19.
“It is not necessary to have your child tested at this time if they do not have symptoms and have not currently been identified as a close contact. Testing now may lead to unnecessary or repeat testing.”
Three of the board’s schools – Stirling, CML Snider and Kente – have reported cases.
