OPP names new Community Safety Officer

Connor Durkin

Connor Durkin

Connor Durkin has been named Prince Edward County’s new Community Safety Officer.

The role is best known for its work with the County’s children involved in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program (DARE), but also includes many community-minded initiatives including the Adopt a Child snowsuit program, promotion of use of helmets at the skate park and life jackets on the waterways.

“I’m looking forward to working together with our partners in the community to make Prince Edward County an even safer place to live and visit,” said Durkin.

Durkin takes over from Constable Anthony Mann who has moved over to criminal investigations. Durkin is the seventh officer in the role over the past four decades, following Don Watt, Mick Chalmers, Greg Richardson, Nicole Lott and Kim Guthrie.

“Anthony has left me some very big shoes to fill. I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing the succession of excellent officers that have served in my role before me.”

Durkin began his career at the PEC OPP station as in 2001, assigned to general law enforcement duties, property crimes and a stint as an acting sergeant. He has also served as a member of the Community Drug Action Team.
