OPP officer in the branch events for fraud prevention
Administrator | Feb 10, 2026 | Comments 0
Prince Edward County OPP is partnering with local banks to host “Officer in the Branch” events to provide residents with practical tips on avoiding scams and protecting finances.
The first session was held at CIBC in January and is followed by a Feb. 25 event at Bank of Montreal (BMO) in Picton, and a March 25, at Scotiabank in Picton. Each event is set to run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During the sessions, an OPP Community Engagement Officer will be available to answer questions and share advice on common scams such as gift card frauds, grandparent scams and phishing scams. The initiative is designed to help protect residents where they bank, and support local banks in safeguarding the community.
In the meantime, if you believe you’ve been targeted or have fallen victim to a scam, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca. You can also contact the Prince Edward County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
