Partial burn ban lifted for PEC

Fire Chief Scott Manlow has lifted the partial burn ban for the County of Prince Edward – in place since July.

Open air burning is now permitted.

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue reminds residents that a burning permit is required for all open air burning.

Residents can apply for an annual burning permit by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street, or at any County Library. You can find a full list of County libraries online at www.PECLibrary.org/locations/. Burning permits cost $15 and expire at the end of the calendar year (Dec. 31, 2018).

The Fire Chief evaluates weather and ground conditions to determine the necessity of a burn ban.
