PEC Music Festival finales Friday

Close to 300 students heard the beautiful sounds of the cello played by Margaret Munro Tobolowska, cellist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, during a special schools’ concert this morning.
Students were in attendance from Athol Central, Kente, Queen Elizabeth, St Gregory’s, Sonrise, Sophiasburgh and PECI.
The Prince Edward County Music Festival ends Friday with shows at Oeno Gallery and at the St. Mary Magdalene Church.
Oeno Gallery features the SuperNova String Quartet in the beautiful surroundings of the stylish art gallery with quartets by Beethoven, Sokolovic and Ravel, art by Lynne Fernie, followed by a wine and cheese reception.
Three works with ties to the heart of Austria: Mahler’s hauntingly beautiful Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Sokolovic’s Tanzer Lieder and Dvorak’s exhilarating Piano Quintet features at the grand finale at the Church of St Mary Magdalene with rising soprano star Ellen Wieser, baritone Peter McGillivray, the SuperNova String Quartet, and others.
