Peewee BB team begins All-Ontario finals

TeamPWBBThe Prince Edward County Kerr Construction Peewee BB team begins its All-Ontario Provincial final against the Dorchester Dragons this weekend.
The team that wins this series is awarded the W.S. Bill Mulholland Trophy and the team’s players receive the symbolic OMHA Provincial Champion Red Hats and title of the best OMHA Peewee BB hockey team in the province.

“The Kerr Construction Peewee’s consists of 15 boys born in either 2002 or 2003, many who have played their entire minor hockey career together,” said Darren Marshall, president PECMHA. “Led by their coaches Dan Davies and Mike Davies, this team completed a very successful regular season.  They were also winners of their home PEC Milk tournament and had great results in the annual Wayne Gretkzy tournament in Brantford and the Motown Cup tournament in Michigan.”

The Kings swept their way through the playoffs with series wins over the Lindsay Muskies, Port Hope Panthers and the Huntsville Otters.  Their opponent in the finals, the Dorchester Dragons, a community just East of London have also experienced much success this season with a 50-12-4 record throughout the year that includes their regular season, tournaments and playoff victories.  Their road to the finals saw them defeat St. Mary’s, Strathroy and Caledonia.

The All-Ontario Championship round will be a six point series. Teams will receive two points for a victory, or one point each for a tie.  A tie will only occur after one scoreless overtime period is completed with the exception of a potential game six (final game), where they would continue to play OT until a winner is decided.

“Come out and support local minor hockey this weekend as the Kings begin their Championship round,” said Marshall.
