UPDATED:

Picton Main Street between Bridge and Ross streets was temporarily closed just after 11 a.m. Tuesday due to a natural gas leak at 251 Picton Main (former Coaches now Harvey Kalles Real Estate). A natural gas supply line was damaged during excavation work at the rear side of a commercial building.

Fire crews were on scene evacuating the area and buildings on the north side of Picton Main and advised the public to avoid the area of Main and the Market Lane parking lot.  OPP were on scene directing traffic and people.

Enbridge Gas Utility attended the scene and stopped the gas leak at 12:20 p.m.  Firefighters cleared the Main Street buildings in the affected area for safety, and the Main Street was reopened by 12:45 p.m.
