Fans cheered loudly and proudly as they lined the Main Street of Picton Saturday morning for the Picton Pirates Schmalz Cup Championship Celebration Parade through town. The Byford family and Johny Mulridge lead the parade in a fire truck. After the parade, fans, family and friends, sponsors and alumni were invited to gather at the Prince Edward Community Centre for a barbecue and photographs with “Tubby” and the players.
The Picton Pirates won the Schmalz Cup Junior C Championship on May 1 – a first in their 23 years in the Ontario Hockey Association. The Pirates belong to the Empire B Junior C Hockey League.
