Pirates raze Rebels 9-4

The Picton Pirates scored early and often Thursday evening en route to their 16th win of the season.
The local Jr. C squad scored five goals in the first period, the first three of which came with the man advantage.
“That was one of the most complete games I’ve seen out this bunch in a while,” Pirates head coach Ryan Woodward said. “They were ready right from the opening faceoff.”
Jack Davison, Mitch Rosborough, Tyler Kearns, Jesse Lloyd and Dylan Mountenay all scored in the opening 20 minutes to effectively put the game away for Picton.
“After two emotional road wins, you always wonder about a let down, but there was none of that tonight,” Woodward said.
Picton’s third straight win in as many games ended up being a point night for the Empire’s highest scoring team.
Evan Greer and Kearns each had four points while Mountenay, Rosborough and Davison all had three points.
Empire League leading scorer Ryan Sizer had a goal and an assist as did Pat Millington.
Single points went to Steve Csanyi and Brandon Peever.
Matt Kaludis stopped 29 of 33 Rebels shots in picking up his third straight decision.
The win vaulted Picton (16-14-2) into second place in the Empire, just two points back of league leading Napanee.
With the offensive exlposion, Picton skaters can, for the first time in recent memory, claim four of the top ten scorers in the Empire Jr. C league.
Sizer (1st), Davison (2nd), Greer (8th) and Rosborough (8th) all hold spots in the top ten in league scoring.
