Missing men spotted by boaters Friday afternoon

UPDATE SATURDAY:
Friday afternoon, officers with an OPP Marine Unit recovered the bodies of the two missing Tyendinaga Mohawk men after receiving information from boaters.
At 2:32 p.m. the OPP Marine Unit received a VHF Marine Radio Alert from a boater reporting one of the men in the water half way between the Skyway Bridge and Lighthouse Island (west of the Skyway Bridge).
After recovering the first man and transporting him to shore, a second boater approached the OPP Marine Unit at 3:15 p.m. advising of finding another body in the same location.
The men were located approximately 50 feet apart in the middle channel of the Bay of Quinte.
The men were identified as 21 year-old Tyler Maracle and 26 year-old Matthew Fairman. The men had been reported missing since April 26th after launching their 14 foot aluminum fishing boat near the bridge to go fishing.
The Tyendinaga Police Service, The Ontario Provincial Police, and The Tyendinaga Mohawk Fire Department thank community members and members of the public for their support and assistance in the search .
The investigation will continue with the Ontario Coroner’s Office.
UPDATE FRIDAY: The OPP and Tyendinaga police have yet to confirm reports of the bodies of two men missing from a fishing trip have been found near Deseronto on Friday.
Meanwhile, social media messages of condolence are being posted for Matt Fairman, 26, and Tyler Maracle, 21.

The Tyendinaga Police Service and the Napanee OPP are appealing to the public for any information relating to the disappearance of two Tyendinaga Mohawk men.
On Sunday, April 26th at approximately 1:30 a.m. Tyler Maracle and Matthew Fairman left a home at about 1:30 a.m. to go fishing. They were reported missing at 8:43 a.m. that morning.
The pickup truck they were using was located on Bayshore Road. A 14ft aluminum red and silver fishing boat with a small motor is missing.
Tyler Maracle, 21, is described as being 5’8” tall, 150lbs, thin build, with brown hair and eyes. Matthew Fairman, 26, is described as 5’8” tall, 134lbs, thin build, short brown hair and green eyes.
Police ask that residents and boaters in the area, both east and west of the Skyway Bridge at Deseronto, be on the lookout for any signs of the missing men. The bridge connects links the County and Deseronto.
