Bloomfield’s Town Hall may see its crumbling entrance stairs replaced as an application for repair makes its way through the approval process.
An application for a permit is making its way to the County’s Heritage Advisory Committee Thursday, as required under the Ontario Heritage Act and County bylaw as the Bloomfield Town Hall is designated.
“The front steps are the focal point of the town hall’s entrance and are in very poor condition,” the project summary states. “Attempts have been made in the past to repair them, but they are now in need of a complete replacement.”
The proposal is to remove the existing steps and replace with idential steps in both material and design. Expense is estimated at $25,500 with revenue from the Captial Sustainability Reserve Fund.
Bloomfield’s Town Hall was built in 1906 and is one of the newest halls in the County. It is frequently used for community events and meetings.
