QHC now to be known as Quinte Health

Following discussions for more than a year, Quinte Health Care will now be known as Quinte Health.

“We no longer want to be reduced to an acronym, particularly since “QHC” doesn’t articulate what our organization does to provide better health for our communities,” said Stacey Daub, President and CEO. “We shortened our name to Quinte Health because we do more than just provide health care. We need to think about the overall health of our teams, patients and communities. We have the opportunity to partner to create better health across our communities.”

Carly Baxter, Quinte Health Senior Communications said the goal was to co-create the future of the four hospitals (Picton, Belleville Trenton and Bancroft) and, through more than 2,200 touchpoints including engagement sessions, surveys, community outreach and candid conversations, the new strategy, she says, “reflects what people, teams and partners told us was most important.

“People told us how important it is to recognize and celebrate the work of each of our four hospitals and for us to continue to strengthen the work they do together to serve our community. These important sentiments are reflected in our new purpose statement: Creating healthier communities. Together.

“Our vision over the next five years is to foster healthier, more connected people and communities,” said Daub. “The pandemic has reinforced the value of teamwork and collaboration, and that we are indeed stronger together. Many of the challenges facing hospitals today can only be solved in true partnership.”

The updated name and image was designed with stakeholder input to put a focus on “health”, as purpose, and in name.

The new symbol is four arrows of different colours, reflecting commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and the four hospitals as one team united in service to one another and to their communities.

“We have put people at the centre of everything we do at Quinte Health, including patients, their families and our team members,” said Dr. Colin MacPherson, Chief of Staff, Quinte Health. “The importance of compassion and humanity cannot be overstated. Health care is more than just applying good standards of practice. It’s about engaging patients and our communities in decisions that impact them, and being supportive, empathetic and equitable in the care we provide.”

Quinte Health will slowly implement its new name and hopes the public with start referring to the organization as Quinte Health.
