Another County baseball team wins championship

In the latest County baseball victory, one of the two Mosquito division teams went undefeated in the year-end playoff tournament, winning the final game Sunday against Quinte West, in Trenton. Prince Edward County baseball teams have won Midget, Peewee, Mosquito and Rookie divisions this year. The only division still being disputed (semi-final game tonight for Bantam in Melrose) with both County teams and one Quinte West team in the finals. Wellington’s two Midget Lynx baseball teams faced off last night at Rotary Park in Belleville for the championship game. Wellington 2 was victorious with a 12-4 finish. Wellington 1 had won a tight game over Belleville 8-7 to get to the finals. The league also includes teams from Baltimore, Quinte West and Melrose.
“I would like to thank my players for their hard work and dedication throughout the year,” said coach Dave Simpson. “Real classy group of guys. My coaching staff of Greg Verner, Kevin Minnie, and Ronnie Lane – thanks for the hard work guys. Really appreciated.”
The Wellington 2 2010 champion team members are: Andrew Ferguson, Adam Miller, Curtis Keogh, Sean Simpson, Bryan Wilson, Josh Arnold, Jarret Mindle, Charlie Cassells, Cory Ferguson, Kaleb Minnie, Evan Minnie, Kyle Gill and Eddie White.
