Rookie select champions move on to provincial tournament

Prince Edward County’s Wellington Lynx Rookie Select baseball team won the championship on the weekend at the Eastern Ontario Rookie Select tournament in Bowmanville.
The team ran undefeated all season – including the wins in the weekend tournament. The team will be representing the Eastern Ontario Rookie Select loop in the SOBA Provincial Championship tournament August 30-September 2 in Etobicoke.
Tournament scores saw Wellington take down Kingston win 6-2, and Bowmanville 14-3, followed by Pickering 11-5 and in the final game Wellington won over Pickering win 20-3.
Coaches Adam Smith, Adam Martin, Calvin Reddick and Cameron Gourley and managers Keri Martin and Darci Smith congratulated the excited team members and are ready to practice for the provincial event.
Team members are Jayda MacDonald, Cayden Gourley, Jack Martin, Nathan Steen, Cooper Norton, Logan Vale, Aiden Reddick, Emerson Byford, Ben Smith, Nolan Lane, Chase Gourley, Rylan Lewis and Austin Allworth. Coaches are Cameron Gourley, Adam Martin, Adam Smith and Calvin Reddick.
