Sandbanks New Waves festival unfolds Saturday at Sandbanks

A brand new music, arts, and food festival – Sandbanks New Waves – will unfold in Prince Edward County Saturday, Sept. 13.
“Sandbanks New Waves is a new school arts festival that is about more than just music,” says organizer Dave Ullrich. “We’ve got local food, kids events, County vendors, a film event, the best camping and the shining crown jewel that is Sandbanks beach! However live music will bring it all together, and we’re very excited to present a collection of five great bands on the Outlet beach stage. All of these artists are on Zunior.com and I’ve been lucky to work with them in one way or another over the past 10 years.”
The one day event will feature live performances from acclaimed artists from across Ontario, including The Hylozoists (Toronto), Evening Hymns (Sharbot Lake), DIANA (Toronto), Bry Webb (Guelph) and Cuff the Duke (Oshawa).
County food, drinks and vendors are will provide a variety of local options. There will be a licensed area called the Beverage Wedge featuirng local wine and draft beer and food samples.
The New Wave bus will transport guests to and from the show to stops in Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington. The S:NW bus that will do a run at the start of the event, and a run after. The afternoon run will start at 2 pm in Cherry Valley and finish at about 3:30 at Sandbanks. The evening run will start at Sandbanks Provincial Park at 9 pm and finish by about 10:30 in Wellington.
Programming throughout the day includes puppet making and art face painting, and the creation of four large murals that will be hung on the sides of the stage; beach tours and more.

It’s good to see such “creativity” here in Prince Edward County ! 🙂
I also think it is a great idea. I particularly like the venue and the fact finally transportation is provided to events with alcohol. Sounds like a hoot. Now the downside. Why now in mid September with predicted 15 degrees, rain and 25k winds.
