Santa and Mrs. Claus launch County Christmas events with visit at Wellings fundraiser

The life-sized Santa decoration at Wellings of Picton was upsurped by a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who dropped in from the North Pole at the request of Cathy and Terry Kewley, to welcome visitors to the retirement home’s annual Sip and Shop fundraising bazaar on Saturday. The day featured a host of local vendors offering sweet and savoury foods, wines, artisans’ jewelry, cards and gifts, along with a silent auction to raise funds for the Prnce Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus return to the County next weekend visiting Bloomfield’s nighttime parade Friday night at 6:30 p.m.; then over to the Festival of Trees all weekend at Isaiah Tubbs, hosted by the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; followed by Picton’s parade, Sunday at 1 p.m. – They will return to the County Saturday, Dec. 7 for the Wellington Sparkles Light up the Village day, followed by the Consecon parade and events Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. – Sue Capon photo
