A second incident of a disturbing exchange between an older man and a young girl has been reported to Prince Edward County OPP.
Approximately 10:30am Thursday, a male acting oddly in a Main Street store in Picton caused a concerned parent to report his actions to police.
“A mother and her 10-year-old daughter were in the store and at one point when the daughter was on her own the suspicious male spoke with her asking her if she was ‘taking care of the store herself’,” said Constable Kim Guthrie. “Then he appeared to watch the girl as she walked away from him and back to her mother. He then watched both the girl and her mother while they moved about the store.”
Guthrie notes that in a separate incident reported last Sunday, the description of the male is similiar.
On Sunday, the complainant stated she was at the grocery store approximately 11:30am and had left her eight-year-old daughter in the car while she picked up some groceries. A short time later, her daughter ran into the store to tell her a man had parked beside their car and asked her if she wanted to go for a ride with him. The complainant checked the parking lot but the male was gone.
The male is described as:
• Older white male, possibly in his 60s
• Approximately 5’9”
• Tanned complexion
• Grey hair and wearing a ball cap
• Teeth in bad condition, some were missing
Although the suspect was not seen with a vehicle in today’s incident the suspect’s vehicle on Sunday was a beige Chevrolet pick up truck.
Anyone with information on this male is asked to call Prince Edward OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
