PECI Panther hockey players are off to COSSA (Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics) seeded #1 in the AA/A tournament after winning the silver medal in the Bay of Quinte Tournament Tuesday against the Saint Theresa Secondary School Titans.

The Panther’s are to be in action 10:30 a.m. Monday March 2nd in the Cobourg Community Center against Kawartha’s second seed Haliburton Highlands Secondary School Red Hawks in the tournament’s opening elimination round.

Belleville’s Centennial Chargers are heading to COSSA as the area’s second seed and will play the Kawartha’s top seeded St. Mary’s Secondary School Thunder from Cobourg.

Winners of these elimination games face off at 2 pm.

Panthers cruised through the semi-final play at the Bay of Quinte against the East Northumberland Secondary School Blue Dragons; downing them 7-1. Scoring for the Panthers were Brooke Jackson (2 goals – 1 assist), Amber Miller (2 goals), Meghan Anderson (unassisted), Cailey Jones (1 goal and 1 assist), and Sam Ward (1 goal and 2 assists).  Abby Terpstra and Celina Fox added single assists to the score sheet.

Cailey Jones showcased her leadership and “tough as nails” attitude against the Titans’ scoring the lone Panther goal which broke the Titans season long shut out. Final score was 5-1 for the Titans.

The Titans move onto the AAA/AAAA COSSA tournament as they registered as a AAA team prior to their season opener.
