A full closure of the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge on County Road 49 is expected to take place from 9 pm – 11 pm Thursday, March 19, and from 12 am – 2 am on Friday, March 20 and also on Tuesday March 24, 2020 from 9 pm – 1 pm and on Wednesday
March 25, 2020 from 12 am – 2 am.
This closure is intended for the implementation of staging configuration for Segment B work which will consist of installing temporary concrete barriers, temporary energy attenuators, delineators, temporary pavement markings and activation of temporary traffic signals.
During this time period, the highway will be closed, and no traffic will be permitted to pass over the bridge.
Aecon Construction and Materials Limited (“Aecon”) is rehabilitating the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge on Highway 49. The work started in 2018 and should be completed in 2024.
Temporary single lane closures during the day (from 30 minutes after sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset) will be in place from March 2 to March 18, 2020 controlled by automated flaggers, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect 5-10-minute delays due to temporary closures.
Starting on March 19, 2020 (weather permitting) the next segment (Segment B) on the Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge being rehabilitated will be reduced to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic signals which will operate 24 hours a day/seven day a week for the remainder of the 2020 construction season which is scheduled to be completed in late December.
